year of the writer continues...tonight! 6-8pm at Forest Centre +

Join us tonight at the Forest Center + (38 Castle Terrace) from 6-8pm for the weekly Write Now Sleep Later writing workshop! For the next few weeks we are going to focus on how we can get our work out into the world through submitting to anthologies, literary journals and writing competitions. Participaton in the submission process is voluntary - you only need send work off if you feel inclined, but creating, developing & honing a piece of writing is a terrific process in itself, and allows you the opportunity to follow through with an idea that you have yet to develop. If you do choose to submit your work, you will be joining thousands of other writers like you who take part in the process of getting published. You never know, you may find yourself in print!

Some examples of opportunities for submission are below. Please see individual web pages for submission guidelines and entry rules.

As always, the writing workshops are on Monday evenings from 6-8pm at the Forest Center + (38 Castle Terrace) and confirmation of attendance is greatly appreciated! There is no previous writing experience required; the workshops are a place where you can explore your literary voice and experiment with lform and structure in a supportive environment with other writers, no matter if you are halfway through your novel, or have never heard of a haiku. All disciplines are welcome, and creative writing exercises taken from MFA writing courses, found text, imagery, music, classic texts, theory, pyschology, synesthesia and pure imagination are included to help you along the way and allow you to write freely without wondering "where to start". As one of the regular  participants commented, these workshops provide a respite from the day-to-day, and a chance to feel human by connecting you to what is most important to your mind & your heart. For each 2 hour workshop there is a suggested fee of £5-10 (sliding scale) but no one is refused for lack of funds. I am committed to helping writers find their voices and reconnecting with their writing practice.

Please contact Kate with any questions at editedinburgh@gmail.com, or find the workshop page on facebook/writenowsleeplater
